Avon Search & Selection are proud to be recruiting on behalf of an independent specialist residential school that supports children and young people from the ages of 11 to 19 who have severe and profound learning disabilities, autism, and complex care needs. The Role

As a Residential Support Worker, you will play a vital role in helping children and young people thrive in a safe, nurturing, and engaging residential environment. Using a person-centred approach, you will support their emotional, physical, social, and cultural development, empowering them to reach their full potential.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the children and young people with daily routines and personal care
  • Taking part in engaging activities with the children and young people on site and out in the community
  • Encouraging the children and young people’s independence, confidence, and life skills
  • Building strong, positive relationships and providing consistent emotional support

This is a full year-round position with a Day and Night positions available.

Day Residential Support Workers- working on average of 38.25 hours P/W

To work on a three-week rolling rota, with a combination of early shifts between the hours of (7am – 2.15pm, 7am- -3.30pm) and late shifts (1.15pm – 9.30pm). Your rota will include one full day for training every three weeks.

Night Residential Support Workers – working on average of 36.2 hours P/W

36.2 average working hours per week on a two-week rolling rota on 10- hours shifts, which includes a full day training every six weeks. Night hours are between (9.30pm – 7.30am).

Experience & Training

Previous experience within care, education, or support work is desirable but not essential. The school welcomes candidates who are new to the sector and offers full training and structured support, making this an excellent opportunity to begin or progress a career in residential childcare.

There are also opportunities to progress into Senior roles for suitable candidates.
