Avon Search is recruiting on behalf of a welcoming care home in Reading, Berkshire, for a compassionate and dedicated Healthcare Assistant to join its friendly team.

This comfortable and supportive care service looks after older residents, including those with more sensitive care needs such as memory loss and dementia. The home also provides respite care, supporting members of the local community who are full-time carers for loved ones.

Set within scenic surroundings, the home benefits from mature gardens and its own summer house, providing residents with a pleasant environment in which to relax and enjoy their retirement.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about care and wants to make a genuine difference to the lives of older people.

The Role

As a Healthcare Assistant, you will:

• Provide high-quality, person-centred care and support to residents.
• Assist with personal care, including washing, dressing and bathing.
• Support residents with mobility and daily living activities.
• Help residents maintain their independence, dignity and individual choice.
• Provide compassionate support to residents living with dementia and memory loss.
• Assist with mealtimes and encourage good nutrition and hydration.
• Monitor residents’ wellbeing and report any changes or concerns.
• Build positive relationships with residents, families and colleagues.
• Help maintain a safe, clean and comfortable living environment.

• Previous experience in a care setting is desirable.
• A caring, patient and compassionate approach.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• A genuine passion for supporting older people.
• The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
