Our client is looking for an experienced and passionate Head Chef to lead their kitchen team within a care home setting in York, preparing delicious, nutritious meals that make a real difference to residents’ daily lives.

This is an excellent opportunity for a chef who takes pride in their cooking, enjoys leading a team and understands the importance of providing high-quality meals tailored to residents’ needs.

The Role

• Plan, prepare and deliver fresh, appetising meals.
• Ensure menus meet residents’ nutritional needs and individual dietary requirements.
• Cater for special diets, allergies and modified-texture meals.
• Maintain excellent food hygiene, health and safety standards.
• Manage kitchen stock, ordering and food waste.
• Lead and support kitchen staff, promoting a positive team environment.
• Ensure meals are served on time and presented to a high standard.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe kitchen.

About You

• Previous experience as a Head Chef or experienced Senior Chef.
• Passionate about cooking quality food and creating varied menus.
• Knowledge of food hygiene, safety and special dietary requirements.
• Strong organisational and leadership skills.
• Reliable, positive and able to work independently.
• Committed to providing residents with an excellent dining experience.

Working Hours & Pay

• £18.54 per hour.
• 35 hours per week on average.
• 8am–6pm shifts.
• Fixed 3 days on, 3 days off rolling rota.

Important: The 3-on, 3-off rota is a strict requirement and cannot be negotiated or varied. Applicants must be able to commit fully to this working pattern.
