About the Opportunity
Avon Search is delighted to be recruiting for a compassionate and committed Deputy Manager on behalf of a welcoming, family-run residential care home in Broadstone, Dorset.
Set within a beautiful Victorian house surrounded by mature grounds in a peaceful residential area, this charming care home provides a warm, friendly environment for 17 residents.
The home has a longstanding reputation for providing quality care to older people, with a strong emphasis on compassion, dignity, respect and individual wellbeing. Its family-centred approach aims to create a genuine sense of community, ensuring residents feel valued, comfortable and truly at home.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Deputy Manager, Senior Care Assistant or Team Leader who is ready to take the next step in their career. You will play an important role in supporting the day-to-day running of the home, maintaining high standards of care and helping to create a positive environment for residents and staff alike.
The Role
Working alongside the Registered Manager, you will help oversee the day-to-day operation of the home, ensuring high standards of care, compliance and resident wellbeing are consistently maintained.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the Registered Manager with the daily operation of the home.
- Leading, mentoring and motivating the care team.
- Promoting high-quality, person-centred care that respects each resident’s individual needs and preferences.
- Completing regular audits and supporting continuous quality improvement.
- Monitoring care plans, risk assessments and care documentation.
- Supporting medication management and safe working practices.
- Assisting with staff supervision, training and development.
- Building positive relationships with residents, relatives and healthcare professionals.
- Deputising for the Registered Manager when required.
- Maintaining compliance with CQC standards, policies and procedures.
- Helping to maintain a welcoming, safe and supportive home environment.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
- Experience working within a residential care home supporting older people.
- Previous experience as a Deputy Manager, Team Leader or Senior Care Assistant looking to progress.
- NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care, with a Level 5 qualification or willingness to work towards it being advantageous.
- Experience completing audits, or a willingness to develop your skills in this area.
- A good understanding of CQC standards, care regulations and person-centred care.
- Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.
- A caring, positive and proactive approach.
- The ability to support, motivate and develop a team.
- A genuine commitment to promoting residents’ dignity, independence and wellbeing.
- A desire to become an integral part of a friendly, family-run care home.
